The Honeymoon: Rain forest zip line!

img_1721

As you may know, Tanya and I went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon. St. Lucia is a beautiful island. Its mountainous terrain make for beautiful landscapes. The beaches are pristine and the food was great! We stayed at Sandals Regency, an all-inclusive just outside of Castries, the country’s capital. And as relaxing as the resort was, we had fun when we ventured off.

Our favorite trip was to the rain forest where we got to go on a zip line. It was so much fun! The combination of the beautiful environs, the rush of speed and being suspended hundreds of feet in the air was a real rush. Here’s what it looked like when one of the instructors shot a video with our camera. Enjoy!

Walking on the Moon: Our Reception Entrance

We’re married! And the wedding and the honeymoon were both great! It was like we were walking on the moon. And speaking of which, here’s our reception entrance routine to The Dream’s Walking on the Moon. Thanks to Jamie for capturing the choreography!

The Moment I First Saw Her

What a day! What a weekend!

The wedding was more than anything we could have asked for. We were surrounded by family and friends. Everyone was sharing their love with us. The weather was beautiful. The ceremony was touching. The reception turned into a party. It was like a dream come true.

And since then, people have been asking me one question: what was your favorite moment? Was it when Cherish so expressively brought Tanya’s poem to life during the ceremony? Was it the first time you kissed your wife? Was it when you were dancing to “Walking on the Moon” as you entered the reception? Or maybe it was all that food? First dance? The cupcakes?

All of those moments carry their own special place in my mind and heart. But as the groom, the best moment for me was standing at the front of the church when they opened those doors to reveal the most beautiful woman in the world. It was very, very hard not to cry when I saw how stunning she was. But I took deep breaths like Bryan told me to and I kept myself together.

Regardless, that moment when Ms. Bennett walked down the aisle to become Mrs. Ford was the best moment for me all day.

The most beautiful woman in the world.

The most beautiful woman in the world.

A Hot Summer Sunset

polygiros_sunset

It’s August 7th and tomorrow’s the big day! When it came to colors for the wedding we had a vision of a hot summers sunset. A palette of colors, rather than the traditional two colors that play off each other. The picture above incorporates those colors. It’s the setting of a beautiful day which means the next day is just around the corner. Typically when the sun sets like that, it means the follow day is going to be spectacular as well. I’m definitely enjoying the day, but also looking forward to my tomorrow!

My Behind the Scenes Team (Part III)

Had to save the best for last. None of this would be possible without the prayers of my Grandmother and my Aunt Priscilla. They have dedicated special time not only to pray but to fast for the planning process, the day of the wedding and most importantly our marriage. They are the two people who know how to calm me down when in the midst of a storm. (And there have been a few storms in this planning process.) Everyone who knows my Grandmother knows that she is a fearless solider in the Lords Army. She is truly a woman of prayer. Many of my friends call with concerns, asking to have my Grandmother pray because they know that God will hear her cry and that tremendous results will follow. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing God’s got your back and that their are people who are praying for you and with you!

My Behind the Scenes Team (Part II)

Yes, I have a wedding planner and I am proud of it! We got engaged in December, I started my new job in January and we planned the wedding for August. That gave me 8 months to acclimate to a new position and plan a wedding at the same time. Sure I was fully capable of planning the wedding myself, but boy am I happy that I chose not too. The original thought behind getting a planner came from once again my cousin Adia. (She’s quite the wealth of knowledge…did I mention she’s a Dr.?) Her and Robert got married a few years ago and used a wonderful planner from her area. It takes a lot of stress out of the planning process. When things go wrong you have someone who is experienced to handle the situation. We had a few major snafoo’s and all I can say is thank God we had Carolyn Mason of Love Notes Event and Occasion specialists. She is a veteran in the field and comes with lots of experience a whole host of contacts (and it sure doesn’t hurt that she’s a lawyer by trade!) Anyone planning to get married or planning an event? Check out her website….you’ll be thankful you did.

My Behind the scenes team (Part 1)

You’ve read all about my fabulous bridesmaids, but there are a couple other individuals that have played a key role in helping me keep my sanity throughout this process. I have to shout out  my cousins Pam and Paula who have been extremely supportive from start to finish. They both call to check on me a couple times a week. They check my facebook status to get a sense of how I’m feeling. If I am stressed they give me countless things to laugh about. Paula even went as far as letting me just call her and scream as therapy lol…(that offer expires 8/9/09). They may not know it, but it really means a lot to me!  It’s so wonderful to have people that love you and are happy for you. I’m truly blessed to have them in my life! Can’t wait to party with you ladies on the 8th!

My qeeeeeeeeen to beeeeeeee!

This is a favorite more classic entrance that Tanya and I may consider…

This is how to make an entrance!

When your wedding starts, you want to make an entrance.

Everybody, from my best man, to his girlfriend and even a coworker (thanks Becky!) sent me this video. And so it has to go up. Check it out and enjoy!

Oh, and to our bridesmaids and groomsmen: GET READY!

St. Lucia Here we come!

Beach ready!

When it came to choosing our honeymoon, we did a lot of research. My cousin Adia recommended St. Lucia, because that is where she and her husband went for their honeymoon. It’s a huge island with lots of activities, beautiful beaches and great hotels. As per her recommendation we are staying at Sandals All-Inclusive resort. Sandals has three resorts on the island and the bonus is that if you stay at one, you have access to all. And out of the three, did we chose the one with the best view? or best beach? No. We chose the resort with the best restaurants! I’m sure Eddie will have plenty of pictures of all the yummy food we will get to eat during our stay. So,  not only are we excited about celebrating with everyone on August 8th, we are excited for our two week honeymoon in St. Lucia! Two whole weeks of sand in our toes, resting from all the planning (and not to mention work) and just being able to bask in newness of marriage.
